Social worker resume guide
Describe your service setting, population, and case responsibilities while protecting client confidentiality. Distinguish support, referral, and assessment duties and state your actual credential level.
By RewriteMe · Illustrative examples, not customer results
A clearer bullet. The same facts.
A rewrite should make your contribution easier to understand. Here is a fictional example that changes the expression without adding a new employer, qualification, or result.
Original wording
Coordinated community referrals and maintained case notes for families.
Rewritten wording
Coordinated family referrals to community services and maintained case documentation.
The revision gives the action a direct verb and keeps the scope from the original. It does not add a percentage or promotion. If you have a verified result, include it with enough context to explain how it was measured.
Gather the details that make this yours
Service setting, caseload scope, referral partners, documentation system, and credentials.
Look at your own project notes, job history, and performance records. For each recent role, write down what you did, how you did it, and what happened. If a number is uncertain, leave it out or clearly describe its basis rather than guessing.
Use job keywords with evidence
These terms may be relevant to social worker roles. Compare them with the actual job posting, then use only the terms that describe your experience.
- case management
- community referrals
- service coordination
- case documentation
A required skill in a job advertisement is not proof that you have that skill. Put tools in the context of work you performed and explain transferable experience when you are changing roles.
Check the final document
- Confirm your name, contact information, employers, dates, and credentials against the original.
- Use clear section headings and a simple reading order. Follow the employer's requested file type.
- Copy text from the exported PDF into a plain text editor to check that it is readable and in order.
- Read every bullet aloud. Keep language you would comfortably explain in an interview.
Our ATS formatting guide covers these checks in more detail. You can also compare your original and rewritten text with the free resume fact check.
